Christmas Day at the Hendersons by Rose

@ Edinburgh

Phew - Christmas Day is over!

Our Christmas Day started at 6.20am when Jack woke me up with a big WOW? through the monitor - the exact moment he spotted his Christmas Stocking!

Ed got up with him and changed his bum while I put the tree lights on/lamp on/made a cup of tea/got the paracetamol and decongestant for our colds/got Jack some water and then we all went back into our bed to open up our Christmas Stockings.

From Santa, Jack got chocolate coins and chocolate penguins, a banana, a Satsuma, The Snowman board book, 4 musical bell/rattle instruments, crayons and a Fire Engine, Police Car and Ambulance that make siren noises complete with a little fireman, policeman and doctor.

The first thing Jack pulled out of his stocking was a banana and we had to open it and give it to him instantly, he was so excited. Strange little monkey.

Once Jack had opened his stocking, Ed had opened his (full of sweets) and I had looked under mine to find a book we then went through to the livingroom to get started on the big presents.

We didn’t quite get started though? Jack spotted the ride on and that was it, he wanted to play with that for the rest of the day! We probably should have stopped there as he was more than happy.

Once we started pointing to the presents he soon took an intrest though, first of all it was his garage

He then discovered his Vtech Tree, and had a wee play with that.

We then got to the lego where Ed took over and decided to build towers for some strange reason.

In between these times we managed to have some pancakes for breakfast.

Before long it was time for Jack’s morning nap, so before he went he made sure he touched every single one of the opened toys just to let us know they were his.

During Jack’s nmanagedmanged to grab a shower & tidy up and I made a start on the first course of Christmas Lunch that we were going to have at 12.

Once Jack woke up, Grandma and Grandad came to visit with a massive gift bag full of clothes for Jack (and a nemo clock). Jack had a good play and showed off a bit, and once Grandma and Grandad left we settled into our first course of Christmas lunch that was home made soup, followed by pate and toast and warm brie with cranberry. Jack had a pudding of chocolate!

After lunch it was back to the ride on and to open more presents!

Then while Jack played with his toys Ed started to build a lego tower. That Jack wasn’t allowed to touch.

At about 3, Jack went for a nap as all the playing had clearly tired him out, although he did fight it for a while and refuse to go down!

While he slept we again spent the time tidying up the livingroom, and I then got on with dinner while Ed started building another tower (nothing like helping out, eh!) and the cats just slept.

Once Jack got up, we all settled down to Christmas Dinner of Turkey with all the trimmings, a tiny bit of veg and Vienetta for pudding.

And then, again, it was back to the livingroom to play some more once Jack had finished.

And soon after, Jack went to bed (hurrah!), then Ed and I could relax and watch Dr Who, eat some sweets, play his PS2 game and then be tucked up in bed for 10.00pm completely shattered!

Jack certainly seemed to have a good day, he got his garage and discovery tree as well as The Gruffallo book, Where’s Spot book, Hugs book, The Snowman book, Pop up Zoo book, 3 emergency cars, a magnet board, crayons, Kinder selection box, chocolate buttons and chocolate coins, 4 x musical instruments, lego, pirate bath set and a keyboard (thats all I can remember at the moment!). From Nana and Da he got his ride on and has more presents at their house. From Grandma and Grandad he got lots of clothes, a nemo clock with his name on it, milk chocolate buttons and more presents are at their house. From his Great Gran & Great Nan he got some money, from his Great Gran up here he got a stool that lives down in Grandma and Grandads house. From Uncle Chris & Auntie Suz he got a Spiderman Dressing gown that Ed is very impressed with, from Uncle Johnny and Auntie Kirstie he got more lego, from Auntie Heather he got a Bear in the Big Blue House DVD and from Linda he got his Santa’s Little Helper top as well as a little tree ornament with his name on. And thats all I can remember at the moment so sorry if I missed anything/one out!

And of course Ed and I had lots of lovely gifts too, in particular a years membership to Edinburgh Zoo (from Eddie and Liz) meaning we can take Jack to the Zoo every single day next year if we wish.

So thank you to everyone for Jack and our wonderful presents, this afternoon we're all off down to Grandma and Grandads with Uncle Johnny for more Christmas fun and then finally we can relax until New Year!
