Noah the Unstoppable Force by Ed

There are not many things that make me cry. Off the top of my head, the end of Rocky movies, Toy Story 3, Flowers for Algernon and when my son Jack won a Pride of Britain award. So safe to say, I hadn’t shed a tear for a while.

Today I was able to add another moment to my list. My youngest son Noah (age 4) was taking part in a scrimmage at Football (soccer to my US friends), a 1–on–1 situation against another kid and Noah scored his first goal. This may not sound too big a deal but I found myself with quite a few drops of “proud Dad water” in my eyes.

I think about how 4–year–old Noah was SO DETERMINED to play Football this year that he is playing with 5 and 6 year olds…

I think about how he is SO SMALL, he is in the 0th Percentile for his age and his Football strip is way too big for him…

I think about how many times he has been in Hospital with Respiratory problems over his short life so far…

I think about the fact the grass is so long and the football is way too big for Noah…

I think about how he gets tackled 3 times, doesn’t give up and wins the ball back everytime…

When I think about all these things, it makes this moment even better, I adore watching this clip over and over. I like the reaction of Coach Mark (behind the goals) and love Noah’s — a little cheer then he runs back to start again. Job done. What a dude.
